Skillcore

Branding, Copywriting, Art Direction, Illustration, Graphic Design, Marketing Strategy

Skillcore is a gamification startup. We began with an extensive marketing research process, analyzing competitors, audience, market trends, data insights, archetypes—everything marketing offers to shape a smart new brand positioning.

From there, we built the aesthetics. The process included approximately three months of research, two months dedicated to brand development, and another 12 months for brand activation. I had the opportunity to create icons, illustrations, photo treatments, a website, social media assets, and the motion language (in collaboration with Erich Neto), which symbolizes the opening of a portal and the arrival of something powerful.

The verbal identity was equally strong. Partnering with Eduardo Lopes, we developed the tone of voice, headlines, and—what I consider the cherry on top— the brand’s tagline. For a company committed to transforming digital boredom into engaging solutions through gamification, we found the perfect fit: "The Gamechanger Company." We turned the game around.

With that in mind, we drew aesthetic inspiration from sci-fi films, retrofuturism, and government research and innovation agencies. The goal was clear: to make our audience feel like they were in the hands of a high-tech lab of experts — where creativity meets data, where the magic of the unknown blends with the cold precision needed to explore new planets.

Gamification promises groundbreaking results, uncovering uncharted universes. We wanted our audience to feel certain that the future of their entire cyberspace is — fortunately— in our hands.

The visual system aimed for a clean aesthetic — one that wouldn’t compete with Skillcore’s projects but would draw attention to them. Despite this simplicity, we don’t settle for boredom. Creating a strong and visually striking language was essential to positioning our brand within a forward-thinking mood.

We launched the brand digitally with animated teasers. Orange became the primary color, but in everyday communication, it is balanced by complementary tones that reinforce Skillcore’s laboratory-like experience.
